Happy Dogs – English version

On a freezing morning, outside a dog grooming salon that also serves as a parcel collection point, a simple wait for a package turns into a biting social satire.
Lyrics and music: Jean-Pierre Martinez
Voice: Suno

Happy Dogs is a witty, sharp and thoroughly contemporary observational rap that transforms an ordinary everyday situation into a portrait of our times. Outside a dog grooming salon that also operates as a parcel pickup point, shivering customers wait for the shop to open while the contradictions of our hyperconnected society unfold before them.

With an ironic yet clear-eyed perspective, the song explores the gradual disappearance of traditional local shops, the dominance of online retail, the growing uniformity of town centres and the increasing dehumanisation of everyday interactions. The dogs, their owners and the parcel collection customers form a strange temporary community, brought together by the same constraints and the same consumer habits.

Blending humour, social criticism and urban observation, Happy Dogs paints the portrait of a world where almost everything can be ordered with a few clicks, yet people still find themselves standing in line in the cold. A rap about consumer society, the transformation of neighbourhood commerce and the small absurdities of modern everyday life.

The complete lyrics of Happy Dogs are presented here together with the audio recording.

Song inspired by Jean-Pierre Martinez’s play Happy Dogs.
